Imagine if a bully stole your best friend’s bike and you were so desperate to get it back that you went into this huge, dark cave, but you got stuck in it for 24 hours. Well, this is what happened to Gus, the main character of 24 hours in Nowhere by Dusti Bowling. Gus has a best friend named Rossi, and she is a dirtbike rider. Also, Gus gets bullied by this boy named Bo. One day when he almost got his face smashed into a cactus by Bo, Rossi came to save the day. Even though Rossi saved Gus, Bo wasn’t going to let that slide, so he made Rossi give her bike to him. They had to find a way to get her bike back so they asked Bo what to do and he said, “get me an ounce of gold”. At first, Gus and Rossi thought he was insane, but Gus thought about Rossi’s big race coming up and he didn’t want her to miss it. Gus and Rossi were going to go into a cave that was known to have gold in it so they could get Rossi’s bike back. Rossi realized they were going to need more people to help them, so they asked two boys named Matthew and Jessie. They hesitated until Rossi told them about the gold. So all four of them went into the cave and they finally came to their senses, and knew that they were stuck and that their flashlights were eventually going to die. Will Gus, Matthew, Jessie, and Rossi get the gold and get out of the cave, or will they all eventually die from the lack of food and clean water?
